The EPA is going around Congress(or maybe they are using this as a chip to pass a real energy bill), at any rate, we got ouselves a ballgame... Maybe some clean air around the Meadowlands would be nice, HELLO, start there, with those factories, you can smell the polution on I-95. So, this is welcome news, indeed!
Here is an excerpt from the article:
["Make no mistake about it, this does not represent an opportunity for any construction moratorium. EPA and the states are fully prepared to take this on," said Gina McCarthy, EPA's assistant administrator for air and radiation.
"There will be no stoppage as a result of this ... process."
McCarthy stressed that the new guidelines are not regulations but merely information meant to help states figure out cost-effective ways to reduce the pollutants that cause climate change when issuing new air pollution permits.
"We do not have any overall projection of what kind of greenhouse gas emissions will be avoided as a result of this," she said. "And greenhouse gas permitting is not a process for the overall reducing of greenhouse gas emissions.]"
Join me for discussion of this wonderful news, after the jump:
Seeing how Congress has some Democrats like Rockefeller and Webb, who will not vote for climate change bill, this is a good consolation prize. We have Lisa Jackson to thank for it, for she will surely be under alot of scrutiny from the pubs(probably call her into testify under oath).
Knowing full well the implications and the change of a Republican House majority, she did these regs, that are much needed!
Rockefeller still poses a problem, he wants to take EPA authority away for Grenhouse gas regs. This is BS> why does a Democrat have to lead the way for something so republican?
Anyways here is the whole article, enjoy:
